Volleyball Game Preview: Unity Christian Knights vs. Morning Star Academy Mustangs

Unity Christian and Morning Star Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2022, but not for long. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Unity Christian comes in on six and Morning Star Academy on 17.

Unity Christian will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Faith Christian, who they had gone 1-7-1 against in their nine prior meetings. The Knights blew past the Falcons 3-0 on Thursday.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Unity Christian took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-10, 25-14.

Meanwhile, Morning Star Academy got the win against Pathway Christian on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.

While Morning Star Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-11, 25-23.

Morning Star Academy found their leader in freshman Eden Kobernat, who had nine digs and two assists.

Morning Star Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 16 consecutive matchups.

Morning Star Academy's win bumped their record up to 17-0. As for Unity Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's match: Unity Christian has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Morning Star Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 18.3 aces.
