Bangor had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 8-6-1 to make it five. They fell 6-1 to the Marcellus Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Thursday.

Jaret McCoy put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last three games. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
McCoy wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Luke Remington, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base. Remington is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
As for Marcellus, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.
Like Bangor, Marcellus also got a great game from a two-way player: Seth Barrera. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barrera has become a key player for Marcellus: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 4-6 otherwise. Barrera was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cale Hackenberg was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Marcellus is undefeated when Hackenberg posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bangor will face off against Central at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Marcellus, they will square off against Cassopolis at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rangers have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
