Softball Recap: Mumford Wins Going Away Against Snook

Mumford's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Snook Bluejays 10-1. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Emma Loehr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kelsie Rangel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nancy Galvan, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Mumford's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-4. As for Snook, their record is now 4-8-1.

Coincidentally, Mumford and Snook will both be playing Somerville the next time they take the field. Mumford will host Somerville at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, while Snook will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
