Softball Recap: Agawam Wins Going Away Against Pittsfield

Agawam won against Holyoke on Friday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Brownies put the hurt on the Pittsfield Generals with a sharp 18-6 win. The Brownies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Kiley Ryan, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Payton Malanson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Agawam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pittsfield only posted an OBP of .375.

Agawam is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Pittsfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Agawam is set to square off against their familiar foe Minnechaug Regional at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Pittsfield will take on rival Westfield at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
