Adysen Wargo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Hannah DeStefano was incredible, firing off three triples, two runs, and two RBI while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Khloe Mistishin, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Western Wayne hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blue Ridge struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lakeland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Old Forge on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chiefs have posted against the Blue Devils since April 5, 2021.
The team relied heavily on Mick Eremo, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alix Roberts, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Western Wayne's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Lakeland, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6.
Western Wayne suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Lakeland in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
