Baseball Recap: School Without Walls Drops Season-High Score on Coolidge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask School Without Walls). They put the hurt on the Coolidge Colts with a sharp 28-2 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Penguins in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won seven in a row.

Ellington Hunt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hunt was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Nolan Spangenberg and Terrill Turner did most of the damage at the plate: Spangenberg scored four runs while going 2-for-2, while Turner went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Turner has posted since back in April of 2024. Nolan Smith also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

School Without Walls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .689. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coolidge only posted an OBP of .308.

School Without Walls now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Coolidge, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. School Without Walls will take on Archbishop Carroll at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Coolidge, they will challenge Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
