Glenbrook South got a good showing from Everett Perschall, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Perschall has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Michael John and Michael Eschenbach did some serious damage despite the final result: John went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Eschenbach went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Anthony Nottage was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for Prospect, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
On Prospect's side, Matt Jackson and Logan Nordentoft made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Jackson struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Nordentoft pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At bat, Jackson went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Nordentoft went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Nelson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Jack Davis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Looking ahead, Glenbrook South will challenge Deerfield at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Prospect, they will take on Bartlett at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
