It was another big night for Drew Kates, who threw for 399 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.8 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. His passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 334 passing yards. 164 of Kates' passing yards were hauled in by Deon Jones, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Several Sandies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jett Lopez, who threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing score. Jude Dunivin helped Lopez out on the ground, rushing for 97 yards, while also picking up 36 receiving yards.
The win (which was Richland's third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.3 points. As for Amarillo, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Richland will take on Ryan at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,027 yards in their previous games. Amarillo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
