The Desert Mirage RAMS's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Banning on the road and fell 87-17. Desert Mirage has not had much luck with Banning recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Desert Mirage still got an impressive performance from Luis Jimenez, who scored two points along with five rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Desert Mirage struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Banning posted 11 assists.
Banning's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Riley Aguilar led the charge by scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Aguilar is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Moua, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Desert Mirage has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Banning, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-13.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Desert Hot Springs the next time they take the court. Banning will head out to face Desert Hot Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Desert Mirage will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
