Elmwood is 1-7 against Eastwood since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Royals will face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after three games, but that won't be the case come Friday.
On Wednesday, Elmwood got the win against Vanlue by a conclusive 15-5. Fans of the Royals have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Aidan Marsh made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Zackery Gross was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Colton Bradford, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Elmwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vanlue only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Eastwood never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Bellevue.
The team relied heavily on Kadyn Donnell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Norton, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI.
Elmwood's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eastwood, their record is now 3-0.
Both Elmwood and Eastwood just can't seem to miss. The Royals have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Eastwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elmwood suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Eastwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Royals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
