This season hasn't been kind to the Kopperl Eagles, who are still winless after their eighth game. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 36-16 walloping at the hands of Morgan on Tuesday. Kopperl has struggled against Morgan recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Morgan had a senior duo take command as Bianca Aviles scored 18 points along with six blocks and Briseyda Romo scored 11 points along with five blocks and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Aviles has scored at least 25% of Morgan's points.
Kopperl bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.6 points per game. As for Morgan, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kopperl will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Morgan will be home for the holidays to greet Meridian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meridian has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 10.
