The Crofton Warriors lost against the Norfolk Catholic Knights back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Crofton was the victim of a tough 61-38 defeat at the hands of Norfolk Catholic. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crofton in their matchups with Norfolk Catholic: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Crofton still got an impressive performance from Braxston Foxhoven, who scored 12 points.
Norfolk Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nolan Fennessy, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Fennessy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Janssen, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Crofton has not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Norfolk Catholic, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7.
Crofton's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Wayne at 6:03 p.m. on February 12th. Crofton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Wayne is ranked 36th). As for Norfolk Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge Cedar Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Norfolk Catholic is ranked 49th, while Cedar Catholic is ranked 56th).
