The Aquinas Blugolds and the Westfield Area Pioneers will round out the year against one another at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday at. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Aquinas sitting on seven straight wins and Westfield Area on eight.
Aquinas has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 24 points or more this season. They blew past Luther, posting a 67-29 win at home.
Aquinas can attribute much of their success to Madeline Murphy, who went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 2 assists, and Samantha Davis, who scored 25 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The contest was Davis' tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Dobbins, who scored three points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, the stars were shining brightly for Westfield Area in a 48-33 victory over Amherst on Thursday.
Aquinas' victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.27 points. As for Westfield Area, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Everything went Aquinas' way against Westfield Area when the teams last played back in February of 2021 as Aquinas made off with a 69-45 win. Does Aquinas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westfield Area turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
