The Douglas County West Falcon will take on the Wayne Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
While Douglas County West's win against Omaha South wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Douglas County West sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 victory over Omaha South on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Falcon in their matchups with the Packers: they've now won three in a row.

Jackson Schuiteman and Mason Pettit did most of the damage at the plate: Schuiteman scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4, while Pettit scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave Schuiteman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Roen Murdock, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Douglas County West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha South only posted a batting average of .345.
Meanwhile, Wayne came into Friday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Fairbury on Friday as Wayne made off with a 10-4 victory. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Blue Devils this season.
Jaxson Kneifl made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wayne is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-3 otherwise. Kneifl was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Wayne let Alex Rodriguez and Gavin Redden run wild. Rodriguez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Redden scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Redden has become a key player for Wayne: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. Calvin Ankeny was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
The win got Douglas County West back to even at 2-2. As for Wayne, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Douglas County West has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wayne struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Douglas County West came out on top in a nail-biter against Wayne in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Does Douglas County West have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wayne turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
