After flying high against the North Chicago Warhawks on Wednesday, the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees came back down to earth. Zion-Benton was beaten by Warren Township 57-10 on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Zion-Benton in their matchups with Warren Township: they've now lost six in a row.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Zion-Benton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Warren Township pulled down 25 offensive rebounds.
Nari Powers continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Warren Township, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Powers. Another player making a difference was Mimi Dilosa, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Zion-Benton's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Warren Township, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.
Zion-Benton will stay at home for another game and welcome Mundelein at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Mundelein presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Zion-Benton in Illinois (Mundelein is ranked 162nd, while Zion-Benton is ranked 556th). As for Warren Township, they will head out on the road to face off against Libertyville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
