Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hinckley-Finlayson). They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia] Huskies on Thursday. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Natalie Stafne made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Hinckley-Finlayson got a massive performance out of Autumn Painovich, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those RBI were Painovich's first of the season. Lainey Johnson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Hinckley-Finlayson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia] only posted a batting average of .250.
The win got Hinckley-Finlayson back to even at 2-2. As for Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia], the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.
