Softball Recap: Westside Sets Scoring Season-High Against Highland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westside). They blew past the Highland Rebels 33-0 on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last five contests.

Mckyna Craig was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vada Watkins, who went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, four runs, and three doubles. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Ava Jones was another key player, scoring five runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Westside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only posted an OBP of .286.

Westside's record is now 6-1. As for Highland, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Westside has already played their next match, a 16-1 defeat against Quitman on the 21st. As for Highland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 21-8 win against West Memphis on the 21st.
