The Seymour Thunder will square off against the Shawano Community Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Seymour will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
On Friday, Seymour got the win against New London by a conclusive 14-4. Considering the Thunder have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Seymour got a massive performance out of Xavier Salzman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs Salzman has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Staffeldt, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Shawano Community hadn't done well against Menasha recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hawks blew past the Bluejays 14-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.
The team relied heavily on Anderson Schmidt, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Pete Bruette, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
Shawano Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Seymour pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Shawano Community, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Seymour has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Shawano Community struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Seymour came up short against Shawano Community when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 5-2. Will the Thunder have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
