The West Florida Jaguars can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They breezed by Escambia on the road to the tune of 60-27. The victory was just what West Florida needed coming off of a 67-34 loss in their prior matchup.
West Florida got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shania Beeks out in front who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Nylah Brooks, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Demi Liu, who scored 14 points. Ty'aune English was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
West Florida's win bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Escambia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
West Florida will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Pace at 6:00 p.m. Pace presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Florida in Florida (Pace is ranked 52nd, while West Florida is ranked 315th). As for Escambia, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Walton Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
