After a string of 12 wins, Glenwood's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors by a score of 52-49. The Gators were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 58-44.
Glenwood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Claire Graham, who posted seven points and ten rebounds. Bobbi Taylor Breazeale was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.
Even though they lost, Glenwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee-Scott Academy only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Lee-Scott Academy found their leader in freshman Clarke Ivatt, who went 10 for 21 en route to 28 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The game was Ivatt's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Fields, who scored six points in addition to five boards and four steals.
Glenwood's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 18-7. As for Lee-Scott Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-11.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Beulah the next time they take the court. Lee-Scott Academy will head out to face Beulah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Glenwood will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
