After a string of five wins, the Zionsville Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of North Central by a score of 58-55. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Zionsville came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while North Central is ranked 101st).
Zionsville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Haan, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Sampson, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Zionsville's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4. As for North Central, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zionsville will take on Noblesville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Noblesville is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.3 points per game. As for North Central, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lawrence Central at 7:30 p.m. Lawrence Central is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
