Baseball Recap: Northwest's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Northwest dropped their record down to 14-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the first time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 8-1 defeat on Monday.

As for Bishop Carroll, their win was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-5. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Bishop Carroll's part, Braxton Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Bishop Carroll got a massive performance out of Wyatt Fulfer, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two triples, and one run. Those six RBI gave Fulfer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Judd Blasi, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Bishop Carroll will head out on the road to square off against Maize at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northwest will be paying especially close attention to the Golden Eagles' game: after the Golden Eagles face off against North, they'll take on Northwest again.
