The Jones Fightin' Tigers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Oviedo with a sharp 33-7 victory on Friday. Winning may never get old, but Jones sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Jones' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jerrian Parker, who rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Parker hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Jacquez Varner did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why Oviedo lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kevin Watson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 153 yards.
Jones pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.33 points. As for Oviedo, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.
Jones will head out on the road to face off against Edgewater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edgewater is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Oviedo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
