After flying high against the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars on Thursday, the Crofton Warriors came back down to earth. Crofton fell 59-51 to Varsity Opponent on Saturday.
Crofton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jace Foxhoven, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Seth Pinkelman, who scored 14 points.
Crofton now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Varsity Opponent, their victory bumped their record up to 170-610-5.
Crofton's road trip will continue as they head out to face O'Neill on December 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (O'Neill is ranked 122nd, while Crofton is ranked 147th). Varsity Opponent will take on Rock Creek Christian Academy White in a holiday battle at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at. Rock Creek Christian Academy White knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully Varsity Opponent likes a good challenge.
