The Humboldt Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 72-59 to Roosevelt. Humboldt was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Roosevelt apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Roosevelt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Wells, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Wells continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Steven Hunter, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five steals.
Humboldt now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Roosevelt, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Humboldt will head out on the road to square off against Highland Park at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland Park is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Roosevelt, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Patrick Henry at 7:00 p.m.
