The Hemphill Hornets will head out on the road to square off against the Woodville Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hemphill has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
Hemphill pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Diboll. That's two games in a row now that Hemphill has lost by exactly a single point.
Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Woodville made off with a 52-51 victory over Huntington. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Woodville.
Hemphill's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Woodville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-14 record this season.
Hemphill couldn't quite finish off Woodville in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 61-58. Can Hemphill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
