At the plate, Jonathan Lopez and Nico Sabatino did most of the damage at the plate: Lopez got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Sabatino scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Sabatino a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Jennings, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.
St. Thomas Aquinas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, West Broward waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Mavericks by a score of 5-2.
Angel Figueroa looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, West Broward saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah DelValle, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
St. Thomas Aquinas is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. West Broward's victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. St. Thomas Aquinas hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.5 home runs per game.
