They were a single  set away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wayne Christian Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  3-2  on Thursday.
 Evelyn Shock paced Thales Academy Apex's offense, picking up 19 kills. Shock got some help from  Ellie Hutchinson and her 42 assists. Finally,  Kaitlin Milstead kept Thales Academy Apex's defense grounded, leading the team with 16 blocks.
 Wayne Christian's win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   Ava Byrd, who  had 18  digs and three  aces. Those  18  digs gave  Byrd a new career-high.
Thales Academy Apex's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Wayne Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thales Academy Apex will venture away from home to  square off against Neuse Christian Academy  at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. This will  be the Titans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Wayne Christian, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Wayne Country Day  at 6:15  p.m.  on Thursday.
