Baseball Recap: Bolton Central Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Bolton Central had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the Boquet Valley Griffins by a score of 8-3. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Griffins, too.

Ryan Roemer and Jace Hubert made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Roemer tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Hubert tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Roemer got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Hubert got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Hubert has become a key player for Bolton Central: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jaxon Egloff was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Bolton Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Bolton Central's victory bumped their record up to 9-6-1. As for Boquet Valley, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Bolton Central will square off against Hartford Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Boquet Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
