The Pierce County Bears's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Fellowship Christian Paladins at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pierce County had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Laney 35-14.
Pierce County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caden Mcgatha led the charge by rushing for 117 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 170 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. Another player making a difference was Carson Sloan, who picked up 97 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Fellowship Christian waltzed into Friday's match with six straight wins but they left with seven. They claimed a resounding 63-14 win over North Murray at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Pierce County pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Fellowship Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Pierce County ended up a good deal behind Fellowship Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, losing 40-22. Thankfully for Pierce County, Caleb Mcmickle (who threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
