Basketball Game Preview: Cleveland Heights Tigers vs. Medina Battling Bees

The Cleveland Heights Tigers will head out to take on the Medina Battling Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cleveland Heights is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.4 points per game this season.

Cleveland Heights took a loss when they played away from home on Sunday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 77-47 win over Strongsville. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Mustangs are ranked 18th).

Cleveland Heights' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayquan Stubbs, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Stubbs has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Iyan Bremer, who went 8 for 18 en route to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Medina posted their closest win since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They skirted past Strongsville 57-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Battling Bees have posted against the Mustangs since February 12, 2021.

Cleveland Heights' win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points per game. As for Medina, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Cleveland Heights didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Medina when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 63-58 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cleveland Heights since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
