Baseball Recap: Caledonia Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Caledonia nor Cotter made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Ramblers an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Garrett Konz made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Will Allen was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Caden Hauser also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Caledonia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.

Caledonia is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Cotter, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caledonia will head out to take on Dover-Eyota at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cotter, they will venture away from home to square off against Wabasha-Kellogg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ramblers are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
