Windsor hasn't had much luck against Mesa Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Windsor Wizards will take on the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies at 7:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Windsor comes in on three and Mesa Ridge on 25.
Windsor is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 72-64 victory over Dakota Ridge.
Windsor relied on the efforts of Madden Smiley, who shot 62% from the field en route to 25 points along with seven assists and six boards, and Brady Kingsley, who went 9-for-14 on his way to 23 points. What's more, Kingsley also posted a 64% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. John Backhaus was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 11 points and eight rebounds.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Windsor was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They are 19-4 when they've passed the ball that well.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Mesa Ridge over Standley Lake in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Mesa Ridge took down Standley Lake 61-45.
Mesa Ridge's win came from a few key players Windsor will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Isaiah Lucas, who shot 67% from the field en route to 19 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Riehl, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 18 points and five assists.
Mesa Ridge pushed their record up to 25-1 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. As for Windsor, their record now sits at 20-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Windsor has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Mesa Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Windsor couldn't quite get it done against Mesa Ridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 as they fell 48-40. Can Windsor avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
