Leading Neumann to victory were Sophia McCartney and Sydney Martin. McCartney dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds, while Martin scored 24 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Martin's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Van de wouw, who scored 12 points.
Sienna Astorino and Amaya Mitchell certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Astorino scored 17 points along with five rebounds, while Mitchell scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Molly Smith, who scored nine points.
Neumann's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Horizon, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3.
Neumann won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Monsignor Pace at 2:20 p.m. on December 22nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Monsignor Pace is ranked 38th, while Neumann is ranked 30th).
