Wingfield had to hit the road for their first game, and unfortunately the road hit them back. On Friday, they came up short against Heidelberg, falling 12-26. If Wingfield were hoping for some payback for the 0-30 loss against Heidelberg the last time the two teams met, then they were disappointed.
Wingfield got a solid performance out of sophomore Desmond Tornes, who picked up 74 yards on the ground and accumulated 138 passing yards; unfortuately, it just wasn't enough for the win. This was the first contest for both squads, starting they off on the wrong foot at 0-1, while giving Heidelberg a 1-0 record.
Next week, Wingfield take on Terry at 7:00 PM. As for Heidelberg, they will face of against Southeast Lauderdale.
