Boiling Springs has been on the road for two straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Big Spring Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Boiling Springs has not done well against the Greyhounds recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Boiling Springs walked away with a 63-54 victory over the Greyhounds. Given Boiling Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 620th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Boiling Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Ascione led the charge by scoring 20 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Richie, who scored 21 points.
Meanwhile, Big Spring had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down James Buchanan 60-43 on Friday.
Boiling Springs has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Big Spring, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
Boiling Springs was able to grind out a solid win over the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 45-34. Does Boiling Springs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
