Northern (Flint, Mich.) star
Thomas Rawls ran for 344 yards and five touchdowns on 28 carries Friday night during a 48-28 victory over Heritage (Saginaw, Mich.) to set an all-time record for Flint schools, according to the Flint Journal.
The previous record of 319 yards had been set by 2009 University of Alabama Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram while playing for Flint Southwestern against Dow (Midland, Mich.) in 2007.
Rawls, a 5-foot-10, 215-pound senior, also fired a 55-yard touchdown pass to 6-2 junior
Marcus Forward and made 10 tackles.
*A Flint-area record was tied when junior Shane Mahaffy (5-11, 150) fired six touchdown passes as Brandon (Ortonville, Mich.) defeated Northwestern (Flint, Mich.), 49-26. Mahaffy connected on 24 of 32 passes for 372 yards. Dontrial Arnold completed 25 of 53 passes for 408 yards and three touchdowns in a losing effort.
