Riverton is a perfect 7-0 against Fremont since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Riverton will host Fremont at 3:30 p.m. Riverton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.
Riverton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Bountiful, who was ranked eighth at the time (Riverton was ranked second). The Silverwolves took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the RedHawks on Wednesday. The Silverwolves were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but the RedHawks' pitchers proved too tough.
Brooke Tacke made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fremont ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 15-10 victory over Layton. Winning may never get old, but the Silverwolves sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jessica Broadbent and Cara Henrie did most of the damage at the plate: Broadbent went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one triple, while Henrie went 4-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Henrie has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Himelright, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Fremont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 15 consecutive contests.
Riverton moved to 23-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Fremont, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.
Fremont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Riverton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Fremont, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Riverton's sizable advantage in that area, Fremont will need to find a way to close that gap.
Riverton took their victory against Fremont when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 12-6 score. Will Riverton repeat their success, or does Fremont has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
