The Elkin Buckin' Elks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 14th straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 52-38 to Alleghany. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elkin in their matchups with Alleghany: they've now lost five in a row.
Alleghany's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colby Crouse led the charge by scoring 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Lemasters, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Elkin dropped their record down to 4-17 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Alleghany, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-13.
Elkin will head out on the road to take on Mount Airy at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 605th, while Mount Airy is ranked 240th). As for Alleghany, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Starmount at 8:00 p.m. Alleghany and Starmount are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
