The Mesa Jackrabbits's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 44-32 win over Red Mountain. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mesa also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Amya Bekele was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Anaya Packer was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 11 rebounds.
Several Mountain Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Macy Johnson, who scored nine points along with six steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Payton Westra, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
The win got Mesa back to even at 9-9. As for Red Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-5.
Mesa will head out on the road to take on Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Red Mountain will take on Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Skyline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 on Monday.
