The Cloverdale Clovers will head out on the road to face off against the Northview Knights at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cloverdale can finally bid farewell to their 20-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Vermillion 51-11 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Cloverdale has managed all season.
Northview has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 24 points or more this season. They blew past North Putnam 58-32. Given Northview's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while North Putnam is ranked 313th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carlee Schrader, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Schrader is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenna Stallcop, who scored 16 points.
Cloverdale's victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-11. As for Northview, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Cloverdale took a serious blow against Northview when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 51-17. Can Cloverdale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
