Yucaipa won the last time they faced Redlands East Valley and Carly Mulvihil did her part to make sure it happened again. The Thunderbirds skirted past the Wildcats 3-2 with plenty of help from Mulvihil, who had 17 digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Yucaipa who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 18-25, 25-12, 21-25, 15-4.

Yucaipa has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-16 record this season. As for Redlands East Valley, they dropped their record down to 10-11 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Yucaipa and Redlands East Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Thunderbirds will take on Redlands at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (319 vs. 43). Meanwhile, Redlands East Valley (ranked 529th) will meet Beaumont (ranked 94th) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
