The South Pike Eagles had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They took down Wesson 36-22. That result was just more of the same for these two, as South Pike also won the last time the pair played back in January.
South Pike found their leader in underclassman Ayniah Varnado, who scored nine points along with four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaysha Williams, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
South Pike is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Wesson, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
South Pike didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 46-41 defeat vs. Port Gibson on the 9th. Wesson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
