Even though the Benson Tech Techmen scored an imposing 83 points on Tuesday, Nelson still came out on top. Nelson snuck past Benson Tech with a 88-83 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Nelson.
Nelson was led to victory by Braylon Gaines and Sam Lewis. Gaines dropped a double-double on 24 points and 10 assists, while Lewis scored 30 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least 25% of Nelson's points. Jaydon Schregardus was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 5 rebounds.
Nelson's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Benson Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nelson will face off against Caldera at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Benson Tech, they will head out on the road to face off against Westview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
