Coeur d'Alene has gone a perfect 4-0 against Sandpoint recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Coeur d'Alene will venture away from home to take on Sandpoint at 3:00 p.m. Coeur d'Alene will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
On Tuesday, Coeur d'Alene got the win against Moscow by a conclusive 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won three matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Leah Nordman looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, she gave up only two walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Jenna Davenport was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ollie Dudley, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Coeur d'Alene always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Sandpoint hadn't done well against Lakeland recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Sandpoint came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakeland, sneaking past 9-8. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Marlee Stevens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avery Inge, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Cadence Skibitsky was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Coeur d'Alene pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average this season. As for Sandpoint, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
Coeur d'Alene took their win against Sandpoint when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coeur d'Alene since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
