Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. A special shoutout goes to Lee's Summit West's senior Ben Kobel, who scored six total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Lee's Summit West got a 52 - 47 win over Liberty last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Ben Kobel. Kobel threw for 412 yards and six touchdowns. That performance made Kobel one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Bishop Miege (2nd in the power rankings) and Blue Valley (10th). Bishop Miege came out on top against Blue Valley with a 29 - 15 win. Senior Jaylen Scruggs deserves a lot of the credit as he ran for 65 yards and also punched in one touchdown.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (seven consecutive games). North Kansas City finished its game with a 34 - 20 win. Despite its victory, the team was passed up by other teams in the power rankings and gave up two spots in the rankings.
Game of Inches
The title of the most exciting match of the week goes to the clash between Platte County and Raymore-Peculiar. Platte County won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Raymore-Peculiar 36 - 35. The Raymore-Peculiar defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 32 points per game), and Platte County took advantage of that.
