Sadly, the Chase Kats are still looking for their first win of the season after 17 matchups. They were beaten by LaCrosse 76-20 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Chase can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while LaCrosse is ranked 162nd).
LaCrosse found their leader in underclassman Madison Morgan, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Molly Showalter was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Chase's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16-1. As for LaCrosse, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chase and Smoky Valley Home Educators will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Smoky Valley Home Educators' defense has only allowed 26.9 points per game this season, so Chase's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for LaCrosse, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Central Plains at 6:00 p.m. LaCrosse is on a four-game streak of home wins, Central Plains a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
