Northampton County moved up to 223 from 262 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A Tar-Roanoke. A 50-14 win over North Edgecombe helped the Jaguars improve their standing.
Northampton County extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Warriors, 50-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Southeast Halifax's dynamic duo of Adonis Whitaker and Derrick Gray proved tough for KIPP Pride to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Whitaker threw for 30 yards and one touchdown and Gray had 30 yards receiving.
Brian Lassiter was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 149 yards as Northampton County defeated the Panther. Teammate Christian Boone added to the ground attack by rushing for 121 yards.
The Jaguars' Keion Crossen and Lassiter have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 1A Tar-Roanoke in both passing and receiving yards. Crossen has thrown for 346 yards this season, while Lassiter, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has four catches for 212 yards. Southeast Halifax's Jaquez McDaniel leads the league in rushing yards with 833.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Northampton County takes on Weldon. As it stands, the Jaguars are in first, while the Chargers are in third.
Gates County took down Rocky Mount Prep 51-2 last week, the largest margin of any game.
