The Mission Valley Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 64-38 margin over Veritas Christian. The win was some much needed relief for Mission Valley as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Mission Valley was led to victory by Porter Deters and Hunter Tenbrink. Deters scored 13 points along with three steals, while Tenbrink scored 21 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tenbrink has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kale Mccart, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Veritas Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gavin Oberzan, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Oberzan has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Vaughn Heck was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Mission Valley's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Veritas Christian, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Mission Valley will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bulldogs. Madison is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Veritas Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th.
