On Thursday, the Parkside Eagles faced the KIPP College Prep Panthers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Parkside came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 67-57. The victory was just what Parkside needed coming off of a 86-56 defeat in their prior contest.
Parkside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Semaj Marshall led the charge by scoring 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasson James, who scored 18 points.
Despite the loss, KIPP College Prep still got an impressive performance from Dajuan Jones, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dahmir Lindsey, who scored 14 points.
Parkside is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. As for KIPP College Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Parkside will be playing at home against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thurgood Marshall Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for KIPP College Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. One thing working in KIPP DC Legacy College Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
